Why Adajan is different

Adajan Grows Upwards, So Solar Has to Be Planned Differently

Adajan is one of Surat’s newer westward extensions along the Tapi. It mixes newly built high-rise towers, older gamtal (village-core) homes and plotted row-house developments, as urban studies of the area describe (CEPT University).

That variety changes everything about a rooftop solar installation: who owns the roof, how much shade towers cast, how strong an older slab is, and how you protect equipment in a low-lying, flood-prone area. Our survey starts from these questions, not from a standard package.

High-rise apartments

A society can power lifts, pumps and common lighting from the shared terrace and claim ₹18,000 per kW under PM Surya Ghar. We map usable space around lift rooms and tanks and check shadows from nearby towers.

Row houses & bungalows

Home solar panel installation with a 2–5 kW on-grid system, eligible for up to ₹78,000 central subsidy. We place panels away from staircase-room and tank shadows, or raise the structure.

Older village-core homes

Older slabs and mixed roofs need a structural check first. We assess roof condition and choose a mounting method suited to it, so the roof stays sound for the life of the system.

Main roads & complexes

Showrooms, clinics & offices

Commercial solar installation sized to daytime load, which is when shops, clinics and offices use most power. No PM Surya Ghar subsidy, but accelerated depreciation may apply; check with your CA.

Solar for Adajan Housing Societies, Step by Step

Common-area electricity for lifts, water pumps, parking and corridor lights is often one of a society’s biggest monthly costs. Rooftop solar on the shared terrace can cut it, and PM Surya Ghar offers ₹18,000 per kW for common facilities (up to 3 kW per house and 500 kW in total).

01

Common-meter study

We review 12 months of common-meter bills and map the terrace.

02

Committee proposal

You get a written proposal and quote to present to members.

03

Approvals

We file the DISCOM application and subsidy paperwork for the society.

Monsoon-ready installation

Planning Solar in a Low-Lying, Flood-Prone Area

Parts of Adajan sit low along the Tapi and were badly hit by the 2006 Surat flood. Panels on the roof are rarely the problem; the risk is to equipment placed low and to roofs whose drainage gets blocked. Here is what we plan for during the survey.
Protect your investment further with the right cover: read our guide to solar insurance and warranty claims in Gujarat.

Equipment above flood level

Inverter and distribution boxes are planned at a safe height, not at ground level.

Roof drainage kept clear

Structure legs are placed so rainwater still reaches outlets and doesn’t pond on the slab.

Wind-load and anchoring

Monsoon winds are considered in the structure design, and anchor points are sealed.

Earthing and lightning protection

Installed as part of a safe, DISCOM-compliant system.

Post-monsoon check

A yearly look at cable joints, earthing and bolts keeps the system healthy.

Monitoring app

Watch daily generation to spot dust, shade or faults early.

    FAQ

Solar Panel Installation in Adajan: Questions Answered

Clear answers for Adajan flat owners, society committees, homeowners and businesses. More in our full solar FAQ.

Our published Surat prices for on-grid home systems are ₹1.30–1.50 lakh for 2 kW, ₹2.10–2.40 lakh for 3 kW and ₹2.80–3.20 lakh for 5 kW before subsidy. After the PM Surya Ghar subsidy, a 3 kW system costs about ₹1.32–1.62 lakh. Your exact price is confirmed in a written quote after a free site survey.

Individual flat owners need the society’s permission to use terrace space, and tower terraces are often limited. In most high-rises, a society system for common facilities works better and is eligible for ₹18,000 per kW under PM Surya Ghar.

Look for a solar company that surveys your roof before quoting, lists brands, models and warranty terms in writing, and handles DISCOM and subsidy paperwork. Shree Hari Solar is a Surat solar EPC company founded in 2019 with a 4.9 Google rating.

Yes, for residential consumers with an on-grid system, ALMM-listed made-in-India panels and the connection in their name. The central subsidy goes up to ₹78,000, and homes installing up to 2.18 kW from 22 October 2026 may also get the Gujarat top-up.

Yes. Commercial solar installation suits businesses that use most power in the day. Businesses are not eligible for PM Surya Ghar, but may be able to claim accelerated depreciation; please check with your CA.

Panels on the roof are generally out of reach of floodwater. The key is to place the inverter and distribution boxes at a safe height and keep roof drainage clear, both of which we plan during the survey.

Your electricity supplier (DISCOM) handles feasibility, inspection and the net meter. Most connections in Adajan and Rander fall under DGVCL, but check the supplier name on your bill. We file the application either way.
